WHITEVALE BRIDGE UPDATE (Feb.26, 2014)

Whitevale Bridge Closed

The City has just received our TRCA permit for the Whitevale Bridge Replacement. The tender will be going out shortly. We have hired a contractor to do the tree removals. This will be done in the next few weeks and has to be completed before April 1, 2014 due to the Migratory Bird Act. We are still on schedule for the bridge replacement starting this June/July 2014. Date to be confirmed upon contract award. We are still reviewing the signage and detour routes and trying to get MTO approval for signage on Hwy. 7.

The Whitevale bridge is now closed to vehicular traffic. The bridge is scheduled to be replaced during the spring/summer of 2014; however, due to excessive movement of the bridge in recent weeks caused by freezing and thawing, the City has decided to close the bridge early as a precaution.
